Passive Voice
- A cane non magno saepe tenetur aper. A boar is often held by a not-so-large dog. (Ovid)
- Ab amicis libenter moneamur. Let us gladly be warned by our friends.
- Amor tussisque non celantur. Love, and a cough, are not concealed. (Ovid)
- Hodie extollitur, et cras non invenietur. Today he is lifted up, and tomorrow he shall not be found. (Vulgate Bible)
- Hodie a multis honoratur et cras a nullo curatur. Today he is honored by many, and tomorrow he will be cared for by none.
- Honoratur arbor ob umbram. A tree is honored because of its shade.
- Lapis molli cavatur aqua. A stone is hollowed out by soft water.
- Laudatur ab his, culpatur ab illis. He is praised by some and blamed by others. (Horace)
- Leo a leporibus insultatur mortuus. A dead lion is trampled by hares.
- Omnia mutantur, nos et mutamur in illis. All things are changing and we are changed along with them (Ovid)
- Possunt quia posse videntur. They are able because they seem (are seen) to be able. (Vergil)
- Qui saepe rixantur, a paucis amantur. Those who quarrel often are loved by few.
